Brad Pitt to quit acting ‘in three years’

Brad Pitt has said that he sees himself quitting acting in three years, when he turns 50. The actor made the admission during an interview for Australian chat show 60 Minutes to promote his Oscar-tipped new film Moneyball.

Asked what he would do afterwards Pitt, 47, said: “Hell if I know,” adding: “I’m really enjoying the producorial (sic) side … and getting stories to the plate that may have had a harder time otherwise. I’ve gotten away with a few things and I’ve been pissed off by a few things.”

Pitt implied during the interview that his large brood of children with Angelina Jolie may be one of the reasons he plans to step away from acting. “Their idea is that when they go out beyond the gate – because we have to live behind a gate – there’s people standing there in line with cameras that try to take your picture,” he said. “Their idea is that everyone has to deal with that, though the older ones are getting more savvy. It’s the only thing that I get hot about, that I’m ready to fight about.”

He said having children had changed the choices he makes as an actor. “If I’m choosing a film now I want it to be, maybe, less immature than things I’ve done in the past,” he said. “I’m very concious that they’re going to see it as adults. I want it to mean something to them. I want them to think: ‘Dad’s all right’. It changes everything.”

Moneyball stars Pitt as a baseball manager who introduces a percentage-based system in order to try and overcome his team’s lack of star names. It opens cinemas in the UK later this month.
